NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND USA—Founded in the midst of the pandemic to support small art businesses suffering because of Covid-19, Ohanga Inc. has expanded the creative community it serves by curating Artisan Monthly, a convenient and affordable monthly lifestyle subscription for Rhode Island consumers that care about the origin, quality, cost, and environmental impact of their everyday consumables, but don’t have time to research their local economy or shop at their artisanal markets every weekend. Artisan Monthly brings small-batch locally sourced consumables to Rhode Island homes, from food to daily use products.

As part of Artisan Monthly, Ohanga is curating a growing community of over twenty Rhode Island vendors that agree with and support the Ohanga Verified promise: Ohanga’s commitment to local, sustainable, and fair trade business. Artisan Monthly vendors are based in Rhode Island or just over the border in neighboring states. Because of this local aspect, the environmental impact and economic cost caused by Ohanga’s fulfillment and delivery is significantly less than subscription services that ship products from across the US or from abroad. Through Artisan Monthly, customers can shop guilt-free while supporting their local economy.

Though Artisan Monthly includes all kinds of consumables, from bodycare to candles, Ohanga is committed to growing its burgeoning food community and has accomplished this in partnership with Hope & Main, a food business incubator that, just like Ohanga, strives to value the story behind a creation, and supports makers in growing their brands and businesses.

“Ohanga is fulfilling a vital role in our local economy by targeting and curating a 100% local experience for the consumer. This keeps the wealth in our community at a time when local artisans and makers are still struggling to recover from COVID. This model supports consumers' renewed sense of loyalty to local businesses and we are thrilled to partner with this innovative initiative.” - Lisa Raiola, President & Founder of Hope & Main. “We are truly amazed by Hope & Main's success in bringing food ideation to business reality. Our partnership will accelerate our vision in making the creative economy accessible at the hyperlocal level, from food to art.” - Subham Sett, co-founder of Ohanga.
